04) Netjeri – Honoring the Spirit of Nature

The Netjeri, or “Holy Ones”, are servants of Netjer and the Akhu. They are the spirits of nature and guardians of families and households. The spirits of our deceased pets fall into the category of Netjeri and for that reason it is not generally recommended that we include our deceased pets in our Akhu (ancestor) shrines. Many Shemsu and Remetj of the faith, however, do in fact create separate shrines specifically for pets who have passed to the West. This is a personal decision and not something that is required of us as Kemetic Orthodox.
